Qingdao Maritime Court Held a Press Conference on World Oceans Day

　　8 June 2023 marks the 15th World Oceans Day. In the morning, Qingdao Maritime Court, China Maritime Arbitration Commission and Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly held a press conference on the World Oceans Day, releasing the Summary of Cooperation on the Establishment of Multiple Dispute Resolution Working Mechanism, the Phased Results of Judicial and Law Enforcement Cooperation Linkage Mechanism for Marine Fisheries, as well as the Qingdao Maritime Court top 10 events and top 10 cases in 2022. Huang Chenliang, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Headquarters of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission and head of the Qingdao Arbitration Center; Lu Bo, Secretary of Party Committee and Director of the Marine and Fishery Law Enforcement Supervision Bureau of Shandong Province; Song Junwen, member of the Party Group and vice president of the Qingdao Maritime Court, issued and introduced relevant information. Zhang Dongqing，member of the Party Group and head of the Discipline Inspection Team of the Qingdao Maritime Court， presided over the press conference.

　　At the press conference, Qingdao Maritime Court and China Maritime Arbitration Commission first jointly issued the Summary of Cooperation on the Establishment of Multiple Dispute Resolution Working Mechanism. “Through multi-level and all-round cooperation and exchanges, the two sides will continuously improve the efficiency of the diversified dispute resolution mechanism and the level of litigation source management.” Huang Chenliang said.

　　Subsequently, Qingdao Maritime Court and Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly issued the Phased Results of Judicial and Law Enforcement Cooperation Linkage Mechanism for Marine Fisheries. Through strengthening communication and cooperation, establishing a linkage working mechanism, and constantly deepening the breadth and intensity of judicial and law enforcement cooperation, the two sides have formed a strong synergy and strong guarantee for the development of oceans and fisheries. According to Lu Bo, After the linkage mechanism was established, the number of fishing vessels operating illegally during the summer fishing moratorium has decreased by 90 percent in the past two years under the strict scrutiny of the Qingdao Maritime Court.

The release of the top 10 events and top 10 cases fully demonstrates the work highlights and achievements made by the Qingdao Maritime Court in playing the leading role of maritime justice, refining maritime judgment standards, and docking international economic and trade rules, which manifests the important role of maritime justice in strengthening the protection of marine ecosystem, promoting marine economic development and safeguarding maritime rights and interests.
